Beyond Deceit: Bone Fire

A sequel to Blanket of Deceit, Bone Fire is

an exciting new crime drama from TFT

Following the success of Blanket of Deceit at Titchfield Festival Theatre last year, local playwright and director Johnny O’Hanlon has written a new play that delves deeper into the lives of the two detectives at the heart of the story: Bone Fire. The play performs on stage 28 January to 1 February 2025.

What do you do when a family member has gone missing and about to engage in something that could endanger themselves or others? What if you are D.S Martins and it is your nephew about to engage in something perilous? You ask for assistance with the only person he trusts, the inscrutable D.I Alex. Together they set out to uncover some home truths and inadvertently expose buried secrets. This is a play about motherhood, friendship and betrayal.

In this gripping sequel, the story introduces DS Martins’ troubled nephew, explores Martins' sister and their complex relationship, and offers intriguing glimpses into the enigmatic DI Alex, as a figure from her past mysteriously weaves through the story.

Themes of betrayal and secrecy permeate the lives of all the characters, as one major secret emerges and another comes to light, pushing them to confront difficult moral dilemmas.

Johnny said,

"While writing the play, I wanted to explore the lives of the detectives beyond their professional roles. Motherhood, loyalty, betrayal, and friendship emerged as key motifs, and the ensemble and I worked closely together in rehearsals to bring these themes to life. I hope audiences will enjoy piecing together the connections between these themes as they watch the play unfold."

Bone Fire performs in the Acorn Studio, Titchfield Festival Theatre between 28 January to 1 February 2025. For more information including booking tickets please go to http://titchfieldfestivaltheatre.com/  or contact our Box Office on 0333 666 3366.
