Join us for this journey down the Rabbit Hole in an all new family musical adventure for all ages post

Titchfield Festival Theatre is delighted to announce that Alice in Wonderland, a heartening, family musical adventure written by Sarah Miatt, opens on 14 June.

Alice has never quite fitted into her little town. The residents think she’s odd, her best friend is sad because she won’t marry him and her mother just despairs! So when she meets a white rabbit who tells her that a place called Wonderland needs her help, she eagerly follows him down the rabbit hole with her Mother and Will, her best friend. This leads them on an epic adventure to save Wonderland and The White Queen from the tyranny of the Queen of Hearts…. meeting all your favourite Wonderland characters along the way.

Sarah Miatt and Becky Ebsworth are the co-directors of Alice in Wonderland. Sarah said:

“I have always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland. It was one of my favourites growing up and I really wanted to tell a story that was family friendly, funny, heart-warming and that contained good and evil -  so this fit the bill nicely.

“The original story of Alice in Wonderland relies a lot on a young girl but I felt the tale I wanted to tell would have more substance if Alice was older and had some real world problems. In our story, her trip to Wonderland comes at just the right time for her. She is suffering a bit of a crisis of confidence and is really feeling like she’s not good enough. She just wants to be herself but that isn’t enough for her Mum and she has a lot of pressure on her to confirm to the societal norms. She is really feeling a bit good for nothing when we first meet her, so having a chance to escape it all and come to a magical land really helps her go on a journey of discovery.

“We have some fantastic brand new songs written by our musical director Neil Ogley, I can’t thank him enough for his vision for this project. He is right on my wave length. It’s funny but also relatable in so many ways, there are parts where hearts will melt and others where they will laugh and cry. The cast are just amazing and it’s fun for all the family.”

Alice in Wonderland performs from 14 –24 June 2023. Sunday 18th June will be a relaxed performance with a Makaton Signer.
